The ChristLife team partnered with the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph (KCSJ) to present a Discovering Christ conference on August 21-22, 2015 at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO, where participants received training on the first part of the ChristLife evangelization process and engaged in opportunities for prayer and spiritual renewal.

Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, Archbishop of the Diocese of Kansas City and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of KCSJ, opened the conference with words of encouragement for the 21+ parishes in attendance. He spoke of the importance of evangelization in our parishes and communities before handing the mic over to Dave Nodar, who presented the first talk, "Re-Launching Evangelization in the Catholic Church."

Many people came to the conference with high expectations for how Discovering Christ could work in their parishes. One person shared, "I want [Discovering Christ] to work in my parish and in the lives of so many people I know." They left the conference understanding how to implement the process. "The presentations gave us the tools, experience, and desire to bring Discovering Christ to our parish."

Conference participants were encouraged throughout the weekend by the teachings, opportunities for prayer, and discussion with other regional leaders.

  • "The discussion and prayer opened hearts and made the content of the talks come alive."
  • "I was encouraged to see the Holy Spirit moving in God’s people in the Catholic Church. The dots are being connected to foundational Gospel truth that leads to Jesus."

Claude Sasso, Vice Chancellor for Evangelization and Catechesis in the Diocese of KCSJ, closed the conference by encouraging parishes in their implementation of the ChristLife evangelization process.

"I tend to focus on how I can help save others, but this [conference] reminded me that I need to know Jesus personally first."
