Last weekend, ChristLife traveled to New York City to work on an exciting new film project. We’ll release more details soon. In the meantime, here are a few moments of inspiration from the weekend shared by Dianne Davis.

Once I knew we would be walking around Washington Square Park for our day of filming, I began praying for good weather. For the week leading up to our shoot, I checked the weather forecast, saw a cloudy day on Friday, and then prayed for good weather again.

James Lohrmann arrived in Greenwich on Friday morning and we spent the morning walking around New York watching the overcast sky. I prayed again, “Lord, please don’t let it rain.” As we approached the time of our shoot, I felt drops of water coming down from the sky. I sent a text to our Baltimore staff for prayers while James and I entered a nearby chapel to pray. Our hearts were united, crying out to God.

I asked the Lord to open up the heavens and let the sun shine through. I prayed that the entire day would glorify Him. We prayed for less than five minutes, gathered our things, and walked out the chapel. I looked up to the sky and saw a ray of sunshine through the clouds. As we walked towards Washington Square Park, the clouds continued dissipating until the sky was filled with sunshine.

We spent the afternoon speaking with a wide variety of people—old and young, men and woman, Christians, atheists, and Muslims. It was beautiful to see how the love of Jesus flowing through us can make a conversation with strangers feel like an encounter with a friend. A few of the people we spoke with opened up in deeper ways, sharing their testimonies, which confirmed the presence of the Holy Spirit.

From the very beginning—from the sun shining through the clouds, the interactions we had, and the opportunity to pray with people—I knew the Lord was with us.

Dianne Davis joined ChristLife in 2012 as the New York Regional Director. She was raised in a devout Catholic family and made a personal commitment to Jesus, surrendering her life to Him, in 2001. She went from "loving" Jesus to "falling in love" with Him and her life has never been the same! She has been married to her husband for 21 years and they have two sons.
