Podcasting the New Evangelization

Young Adults Use Technology to Proclaim Christ

Press Release 12/12/06

Catholic evangelization has hit the podcasting waves in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  Christlife, an apostolate of the Archdiocese, now provides young adults with practical ways to evangelize with the latest technology available: podcasting.  “Pope John Paul II inspired our generation to an evangelization ‘new in ardor, methods, and expression’—we see podcasting as doing just that,” said Pete Ascosi, young adult project manager at Christlife.  Through a simple download onto a PC or ipod, anyone can access the bi-weekly podcast free of charge and listen whenever convenient.

This new means of spreading the faith has really taken off—with nearly 2000 downloads after only ten episodes beginning in August.  ChristLife’s podcasts, which resemble a radio talk-show, cover a wide array of topics relating to evangelization: including interviews with Catholic students active in campus evangelization at their universities, notable preacher Fr. Robert Barron and prolific author Bert Ghezzi.  Episodes are available for download or can be accessed through iTunes.
